Jason Cutler:

Jason is a Kellogg graduate with prior work experience as a Senior Investment Banking Analyst at Chase Securities and as an Associate in the ABN-AMRO Venture Capital Group. At Kellogg, he was a co-chair of the Private Equity and Entrepreneurship Club and a Biotech Business Plan competition finalist.

In his professional career, Jason has:

  • Structured, marketed, and syndicated over $15B in debt securities.
  • Generated $27M in investment proposals for assorted portfolio companies.
  • Led ABN-AMRO VCG on its largest initial investment, a $7M deal to a leading provider of supply chain management solutions.
  • Led a deal team on a $6B leveraged acquisition transaction.
  • Managed all aspects of the investment process from sourcing new deals, reviewing business plans, negotiating transaction structure and valuation, and presenting recommendations.

In his spare time, Jason is an avid basketball player and runner, and long time addict to slapstick comedy.

Jenny Murkes:

Jenny is a Chicago GSB graduate with prior work experience as a Financial Analyst at Bank of America Securities and Horsley Bridge Investment Partners and as an Associate at Booz Allen & Hamilton. At Chicago GSB, she won the Deloitte Consulting Case challenge and was runner up in the AT Kearney Case Competition.

In her professional career, Jenny has:

  • Provided origination and execution on sell-side, buy-side, private equity, and joint venture transactions averaging $100M in size.
  • Led a transaction team on a multi-national acquisition of US based company, a 4 nation based deal effort.
  • Performed a comprehensive automotive supplier industry analysis and provided client direction on consolidation and acquisition options.
  • Covered optical, wireless, telecom, and broadband industries for strategic portfolio management investments.

In her spare time, Jenny loves to ski and roller blade, and is generally considered by her friends as a first rate Scotch connoisseur.

Shibani Baluja:

Shibani is a University of Michigan Business School graduate with prior work experience at Merrill Lynch in their exclusive Private Client Group. After graduation, she joined Kraft Foods in their Corporate Finance function and now works in the Global External Development Group evaluating Merger & Acquisition strategies.

In her professional career, Shibani has:

  • Forecasted volume, revenue, and operating contribution for four businesses with combined gross revenues of $800M. Managed a marketing spend budget of $200M.
  • Developed investment strategies for approximately 100 clients with $90M in assets based on their risk tolerance, goals, and expectations.
  • Built and managed fixed income portfolios ranging from $200K to $10M, totaling an estimated $20M in assets.
  • Educated 300 employees of a Fortune 500 company on their stock option alternatives and calculated means to meet their management ownership requirements.

In her spare time, Shibani loves to cook fusion cuisine, and is preparing for her first half marathon.

Ranjan Daniels:

Ranjan is a Kellogg MBA graduate with more than 14 years of P&L leadership, strategy, marketing and people management experience. He has successfully launched new products and services for the Tribune Company, Berkshire Hathaway, Kaplan, and the City of Chicago . Ranjan has also worked and consulted with startups in technology and consumer packaged goods.

In his professional career Ranjan has:

  • Had P&L responsibility for a $10M Berkshire Hathaway clothing company with 60 employees, multi-store locations, and outside sales team; oversaw marketing, sales, finance, and distribution.
  • Marketed a new Web-based ordering, billing, and customer relationship management system that generated $2M in new revenue in its first year.
  • Successfully launched a new plant to collate $75 million of advertising inserts for the Chicago Tribune (only the second newspaper in the world to use this technology).
  • Developed the marketing plan for Chicago’s 311 service, which handles 3.8 million non-emergency calls per year and was touted by the US Department of Justice as a national model.

In his spare time, Ranjan enjoys baseball, travel, and volunteering for Chicago Lights which provides tutoring and educational services to low-income students.

Vanessa Borgess:

Vanessa is a University of Michigan Business School graduate with prior work experience as a Business Analyst at Mckinsey, A.T. Kearney, DTE Energy, and BASF. At UMBS, she graduated with High Distinction and was co-President of the European Business Club.

In her professional career, Vanessa has:

  • Developed a distribution channel strategy for the auto finance division of a major retail bank resulting in an annual profit increase of $30M.
  • Developed an acquisition strategy of a natural gas exploration and production company valued at $284M.
  • Devised a marketing entry strategy for new automotive finish product with projected incremental sales of $13M.
  • Led a client team in new bank-by-phone channel strategy resulting in an annual profit increase of $20M.
  • Performed consulting engagements with clients in the Life Insurance, Airlines, Oil & Gas, Banking, and Telecom industries.

In her spare time, Vanessa loves the outdoors and has trekked 14,000-foot mountains and rafted level 7 rivers with very few injuries to show for it.
