“The session was excellent. Many remarked that it was the best program we have hosted to date” - H. Lentz, Legal Marketing Association, Philadelphia chapter lead.

1 hour 20 minutes

Case covered:

  1. Harvard Business School Dell case discussion

A case is simply a real world business situation in which some strategic choices need to be made.  Typically, the case provides some background of the company, the context of the problem, and some potential recommendations.

In this case, we will discuss Dell’s options for domestic and international growth at the time of their formation. This case examines both the strategic choices made in Dell’s ascent to market leadership and the “what’s next?” question for a company that is faced with an incredibly dynamic and competitive environment.

Upon registration, you will receive the Dell case to read and some general questions to think about.  It is a little homework; however, the case method is a great way to apply academic concepts to actual business problems.  The strategy session will discuss the case as taught at top business schools.

Topics covered:

  1. Porter’s 5 forces
  2. SWOT Analysis
  3. PEST Analysis
  4. Complementary asset model
  5. Merger & Acquisition strategy
  6. Vertical integration
  7. Technology S-curve
  8. Growth strategies

Note: For customized sessions to legal professionals, topics can be substituted with the following:

  • Case discussion on Professional Service industry
  • Frameworks and growth strategies applied to legal services
